Creating And Using Beveled Glass

Beveled glass is extremely thick and it can be as much as ½” in thickness. This thickness is necessary to create cuts around the outer edges of the glass to give it the beveled look. This used to be a job that was done by hand. Today we use machines to help us create the angles and make the precise cuts. This ensures a perfect finish of identical cuts.

It is because of these cuts that beveled glass sometimes gives off a prism of light. Beveled glass is attractive on its own, but when the light hits it just right and rainbows dance across the room, the effect can be breathtaking. It’s no wonder beveled glass is often used as a focal point in a room.

Sometimes beveled glass is be used as glass shelving or for glass countertops. For these applications we can use tempered safety glass to create glass that is both beautiful and strong.
